In a message on the social network X, the Foreign Minister noted that the package of restrictions approved by the US State Department includes the elimination of people-to-people exchanges and further limitations on academic and research exchanges.
“Prohibitions preventing private Cuban entities from conducting direct business with the US and US banks are also being reinforced, in addition to the ban on ‘U-turn’ transactions,” Rodriguez wrote.
Likewise, indirect operations with entities on the State Department’s restricted entities list—which the Foreign Minister described as “unilateral”—are prohibited.
According to Cuba’s Foreign Minister, these measures contrast with statements made less than 24 hours ago by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who claimed that “Cuba has already fallen.”
“It turns out that now additional measures need to be applied,” the Foreign Minister remarked.
The head of Cuban diplomacy denounced that “both the public sector and the private sector—the very sector some US officials claim they want to help develop—are now being openly attacked.”
