Updated data from the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) stated that an estimated 158,765,543 voters are eligible to vote in these elections, the highest potential turnout in the country’s history.
Citizens will cast six votes on electronic voting machines for federal, state, or district lawmakers, two senators, the governor, and the president of the Republic.
This election will renew 54 out of 81 Senate seats and all 513 seats in the Chamber of Deputies, while the governorships of the 26 states and the Federal District are also at stake.
The contest drawing the most attention is the Presidency of the Republic, which registered 12 candidacies, although it focused on President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and Senator Flavio Bolsonaro.
A potential victory for Lula would open the door to advancing the project he presented for the 2027–2030 term, which proposes increasing the minimum wage above inflation, expanding the “My House, My Life” program, and strengthening “Bolsa Familia” and other initiatives to fight hunger and poverty.
