The event’s organizers noted that the activity was part of the agenda for “Hernani Munduari begira” (Hernani Looking at the World), an annual series of talks that connects the Basque town with several international realities.
The screening of the documentary “Pintemos de Violeta la Economia Cubana” (Let’s Paint the Cuban Economy Violet), produced by Havana’s Casa Palomas and directed by Lizette Vila, Ingrid Leon, and Sergio Cabrera, kicked off the event.
The film puts women’s economic rights at the heart of Cuba’s crisis, depicting their challenges, grievances, and aspirations in a country under siege due to mounting pressure from the United States government.
Subsequently, Cubainformacion outlined that a round-table discussion titled “Cuba: Women in Resistance” took place.
Participants included Diana Balboa, a renowned Cuban painter and ceramicist; Milagros Acea, a Cuban economist and activist; and Eloisa Auat, an Argentine community leader and member of the “A Better World Is Possible” Foundation.
To date, the campaign has raised nearly 270,000 euros to purchase solar power systems for the William Soler Hospital in Havana, where the installation of the first unit is already underway.
