The Havana event is always accompanied by a delegation of directors and actors who present films and engage in dialogue with the audience.
Cultural ties between Cuba and France in the realm of cinema extend beyond this festival.
Just a few days ago, the Cuban Film Institute (ICAIC) and the French company Galo Films signed a distribution contract for the feature-length documentary *Mijain*, dedicated to the first five-time Olympic wrestling champion in history.
En route to compete in the 43rd edition of the International Festival of the Federation of Sports Cinema and Television in Milan, Italy, the film will subsequently tour 16 other festivals with similar themes across five continents.
Premiered in 2025 and screened at the Havana International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, the film tells the story of Mijain Lopez, who, at the peak of a legendary career, prepares to face his greatest challenge: winning his fifth Olympic gold medal at Paris 2024.
