Nicaragua reinforces its right to peace, says co-president

Managua, Oct 6 (Prensa Latina) Nicaraguan Co-President Rosario Murillo stated that the country is reinforcing its right to peace, highlighting the role of faith, religious traditions, and hard work in building a more prosperous society.

“Every day we reinforce our right to peace—the greatest of gifts, the greatest of blessings,” said the leader. She defined peace as a vital force and an essential breath for life to flourish, while calling on Nicaraguans to walk paths of brotherhood and solidarity.

The co-president noted that this week Nicaragua continues to celebrate festivities linked to the people’s traditions and faith, as Christian and Evangelical churches hold services and acts of veneration to call upon the God of peace on behalf of Nicaragua.

She also highlighted the Catholic Church’s celebrations in honor of the Virgin of the Rosary and Saint Francis of Assisi, whom she presented as a model of fraternity, kindness, and understanding regarding humanity’s call to achieve and maintain peace through love.

In this context, she maintained that celebrating life in Nicaragua means thanking God for the opportunities to work, progress, and travel the paths of peace that have been achieved.

The co-president linked these advances to the sacrifices made by generations of Nicaraguans who, she said, gave everything so that the people could be “masters of their present and masters of their destiny,” in keeping with an identity defined by struggle and honor.

Concluding her message, she called for maintaining optimism and trust in God, affirming that Nicaragua will move forward by fulfilling the commandments to “love one another, love God above all things, and love our neighbor as ourselves.”
