According to the Kremlin spokesman, regarding the epidemiological situation in Irkutsk region, one must rely on statements and information from Russia’s consumer protection agency (Rospotrebnadzor) and its head, Anna Popova.
“Listen, the media is reporting a great deal, and most of what they are reporting about this situation is false information,” Peskov said in response to a question about whether the Kremlin was aware of a second employee at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Institute who was allegedly diagnosed with pneumonia of unknown etiology.
Furthermore, the spokesman emphasized that the WHO had been informed of the situation in accordance with standard practice.
Earlier, Irkutsk Governor Igor Kobzev announced that a dangerous infectious disease had been detected in the Angara region and that various anti-epidemic measures were being implemented.
The regional government held a meeting of the sanitary and anti-epidemic commission, attended by Anna Popova.
Rospotrebnadzor reported that the infected employee from the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Institute did not carry microorganisms related to her professional activities, and tests performed on her contacts revealed no changes in their health status. The agency stressed that the sanitary and epidemiological situation in the region is stable.
Previously, an employee of the anti-plague institute in Irkutsk was diagnosed with an unknown form of pneumonia.
