The film, which began a traveling screening tour in Colombia several weeks ago, has already been shown in Pasto, Palmira, and Cali under the auspices of the Colombian Movement of Solidarity with Cuba.
Its screenings in Colombia coincide with commemorations marking the 59th anniversary of the iconic guerrilla fighter’s death, following his capture on October 8, 1967, in La Higuera, Bolivia.
The film, already screened in Bolivia, Chile, Peru, and Ecuador, consists of two parts. The first part, entitled “Hijos de la Revolucion” (Children of the Revolution), explores the expedition and final days of Ernesto “Che” Guevara and his guerrilla in the Bolivian jungle through an intimate, human perspective by the children of the fighters who accompanied him.
The second part, entitled “Ser Revolucionario” (Being Revolutionary), features testimonies from the survivors of that action, General Harry Villegas (Pombo) and Colonel Leonardo Tamayo (Urbano).
“Che Guevara en el Siglo XXI” has won several awards at prestigious film festivals in the United States, Spain, Russia, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
