Investments in Central Cuba’s Tourism Sector Boosted

Sancti Spiritus, Cuba, Oct 11 (Prensa Latina) More than 20 business proposals were finalized at the first tourism investment forum held in this central Cuban province, which concluded with the opening of a supply market for state and private economic actors.

The new facility, managed by the tourism trading company ITH, will consolidate a variety of product offerings in a single location. It will soon expand to another site in the city of Trinidad, introducing a new wholesale distribution model.

Aida Rita Rivas Duarte, director of ITH Trinidad, told local media that there are currently four participating suppliers—the Sancti Spíritus Agro-industrial Company and three MSMEs—in addition to ITH itself and a foreign company.

The executive further explained that no contracts are required to make purchases at this market: “Any individual business owner can come here, meet the minimum requirement of 200 USD or 24,000 Cuban pesos, register as a client, and take the merchandise they need.”

The facility, which aims to help lower prices, offers the advantage of accepting—in addition to cash—online payments via POS (Point of Sale) terminals, QR codes, and bank transfers.

As part of the business forum—held to promote the portfolio of investment projects in the tourism sector of Trinidad and Sancti Spíritus—a business matchmaking session took place, along with several presentations of interest to the participants.

PhD. Yordanis de la Caridad Fernandez Alonso, the Ministry of Tourism delegate for the province, told Prensa Latina that this initiative would continue next year to foster sustainable business ventures within the tourism sector. jdt/jcm/mlb
