Organizers said the WFF opening ceremony includes international officials and representatives from United Nations agencies.
The event, running until October 16, is themed “Innovate today, Nourish tomorrow” and will bring together government representatives, scientists, youth, farmers, enterprises, and financial institutions to discuss the future of global food systems.
Its goals include sharing local and international experiences and best practices to speed up the transformation of global agrifood systems, making them more efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable.
The FAO said the event’s agenda is structured around three fundamental pillars to achieve this goal: Global Youth Action, the Science and Innovation Forum, and the Hand-in-Hand Initiative Investment Forum.
World Food Day’s observance on October 16 will be one of the forum’s highlights, bringing together international leaders to address challenges on food security and nutrition.
