The African Union Commission (AUC), in partnership with the Government of Mozambique and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat, convened the event, running through October 15, under the theme “Scaling Proactive Governance and Strategic Investment for Disaster Risk Reduction and a Resilient Africa.”

Discussions focus on mobilizing investment in resilience, improving multi-hazard early warning systems and anticipatory action, and boosting risk-informed development across the continent.

The event brings together ministers, senior government officials, experts, regional and international organizations, development and financing partners, scholars, civil society organizations, persons with disabilities, and the private sector to advance the African agenda on disaster risk reduction and resilience.

According to the conference program, a high-level opening ceremony featuring Heads of State and Government will take place this Tuesday.
