WAFA reported that Yasser Abbas, a member of the Fatah Central Committee and Commissioner-General for Foreign Relations, issued an urgent political message addressed to leaders of political parties and forces in Arab countries and other regions.
Abbas denounced what he described as systematic policies of Judaization and attempts to alter the Arab, Islamic, and Christian identity of Jerusalem, as well as its historical sites.
He also pointed to repeated incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque. He called for the protection of holy sites, including the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and the preservation of the city’s historical and legal status quo.
The official urged political parties and forces to defend freedom of worship and demand measures to guarantee the protection of Palestinian religious sites.
The Palestinian Commission against the Wall and Settlements reported that it had documented 136 attacks related to the olive harvest season, attributed to the Israeli army and settlers, since early October.
