Ukraine confirms Starlink access restrictions

Kyiv, Oct 14 (Prensa Latina) Serhiy Beskrestnov, an advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, confirmed that the US company SpaceX limited the speed of Starlink satellite internet terminals used by the Ukrainian military.

According to Beskrestnov, the speed of the Starlink terminals used by the Ukrainian army was throttled overnight, causing disruptions to combat missions and attacks on Russian targets.

Zelenskyy’s advisor noted that SpaceX imposed a speed limit on Starlink terminals during the night; this limit applied to the “StarShield” military package and was set at 100 Mbps.

He also stated that Ukrainian defense forces received no warning regarding these restrictions.

In his view, these actions are not coincidental and are linked to the current political situation.

Serhiy Sternenko, a former advisor to the Ukrainian Defense Minister, expressed the opinion that the company restricted internet access at the request of US President Donald Trump’s administration.

For his part, Zelenskyy stated that the United States had warned the Ukrainian military that it would likely cut off the supply of intelligence information if attacks on Russian oil refineries continued.
