The meeting, also co-chaired by Joel Queipo—First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the province—brought together local executives and economic stakeholders to examine the implementation of changes to the national economic model.
During the session, participants analyzed mechanisms designed to remove long-standing obstacles, increase the autonomy of state-owned enterprises, and enhance the participation of non-state economic entities within the productive sector.
Furthermore, the authorities explored opportunities for local businesses and cooperatives in Holguin to process their own export and import authorizations directly, a result of the decentralization of authority.
The official visit reaffirmed a commitment to achieving a trade surplus and generating foreign currency, which will contribute tangibly to socioeconomic development and the well-being of the population.
