The event will focus its discussions on the work carried out by the National Board of Directors and the various local branches since the last gathering, held in August of last year in the state of Carabobo (in the north).
That previous meeting included a tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro; a rejection of the United States blockade; and a reaffirmation of the patriotic commitment of the émigrés to their country of origin.
Other topics for the 7th National Gathering will include an analysis of the Citizenship Law and the Migration Law; actions in defense of the homeland—specifically against the intensified economic siege—and the Association’s work regarding information and outreach.
Cubans residing in Venezuela will also examine their contribution to the nation’s economic development, in light of new opportunities arising from the Cuban government and state’s approval and implementation of 176 economic and social reforms.
Accreven’s call stated that, in the current context—marked by a tightening of the blockade, an energy siege, and threats of aggression against our people—the united voices of Cubans living in Venezuela “must be raised louder than ever to continue working for Cuba.”
The appeal invites Cubans residing in Venezuela to take part in this forum to “continue building the homeland alongside our people,” during the year marking the centenary of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
