Fernando Burlando, attorney for “D1es’s” daughters Dalma and Gianinna, described the death as the “murder of Maradona.” In his presentation, he emphasized the medical team’s indifference toward the fatal outcome and played a compilation of audio recordings and voice messages from the defendants.
Addressing judges Alberto Gaig, Alberto Ortolani, and Pablo Rolon, Burlando insisted that “Diego Armando Maradona was murdered on November 25, 2020.”
He upheld that the former footballer was the victim of negligent care during his home-based treatment and questioned the decisions made by those responsible for his health.
Meanwhile, Pablo Jurado—lawyer for Diego’s sisters Ana, Claudia, and Rita—requested the following sentences for the charges of simple homicide with *dolus eventualis* (reckless disregard for life) and negligent homicide:
For Nancy Forlini, the care coordinator at the Swiss Medical clinic, 10 years in prison for simple homicide with *dolus eventualis*; for physician Agustina Cosachov, eight years and two months in prison for the same offense; and for neurosurgeon and medical team leader Leopoldo Luque, eight years in prison.
For nurses Mariano Perroni and Ricardo Omar Almiron, Jurado requested three-year prison terms for negligent homicide; he did not bring charges against psychologist Carlos Diaz or general practitioner Pedro Di Spagna.
It is now the turn of the defense attorneys to present their arguments, after which the three presiding judges will begin their deliberations.
