“We appreciate these gestures of solidarity with Cuba, aimed at vulnerable groups and those affected by Hurricane Melissa,” the Foreign Minister added on his X account.
A shipment of 425 tons of rice donated by Japan was delivered yesterday in Havana to mark World Food Day.
The cargo is part of a one-million-US-dollar contribution provided by the Asian nation’s government through the WFP to support the humanitarian response following the passage of Hurricane Melissa through eastern Cuba in October 2025.
The Caribbean nation also received a solidarity donation of 750 tons of vegetable oil from Russia.
The Russian ambassador to Havana, Viktor V. Koronelli, told Prensa Latina exclusively that this delivery has a significant impact, given the complex situation Cuba is facing due to the criminal blockade imposed by the United States.
