All three eastern teams now hold a record of seven wins and four losses, following Granma’s 14-10 victory over Santiago de Cuba and Sancti Spiritus’s 7-3 win against Ciego de Avila.
Las Tunas also had reasons to celebrate after defeating Camaguey 12-6, a result that kept them in the region’s chasing pack with six wins and five losses.
At Nguyen Van Troi Stadium, Holguin and Guantanamo split the doubleheader; in the opener, the visitors won 11-1 by the mercy rule; but Guantanamo squad bounced back in the second game with a 5-2 victory.
At the other end of the competitive map, Pinar del Rio reaffirmed its status as Western leaders by beating the Artemisa Cazadores 5-3 at 26 de Julio Stadium.
Rain also disrupted the schedule at Augusto Cesar Sandino Stadium, where Villa Clara completed a game against Matanzas—suspended the previous day—with a 13-2 knockout win, but the second game was halted due to rain. Rain also forced the postponement of the matchups between Mayabeque and Cienfuegos, and between Industriales and La Isla.
In the Western Zone, trailing Pinar del Río are Matanzas, Cienfuegos, Industriales, Mayabeque, Artemisa, Villa Clara, and La Isla, while in the East, the leaders share the top spot, with Ciego de Avila, Holguin, and Las Tunas trailing by one game.
