Novak told reporters, “The NSR is our new strategic artery, through which goods are transported to countries in the Asia-Pacific region or, conversely, toward the West.”
The senior official noted, “Traffic volume is growing every year. Last year, traffic reached about 37 million tons, and this year we expect to reach 40 million tons.”
He added that Russia is seeing interest in international transport along the NSR, mainly for growing Russian energy shipments, including liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The “Russian Energy Week” International Forum took place in Moscow on October 14-16.
The Roscongress Foundation, in partnership with the Russian Government, the Energy Ministry, and the Moscow city administration, organized the event.
