In the final resolution of the 168th session of its Ministerial Council, held in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, the bloc’s foreign ministers also demanded that member states be included in any negotiations or agreements that could affect their security and interests.
Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif Al Zayani, his counterparts from the member states, and GCC Secretary General Mohamed AlBudaiwi attended the meeting.
The ministers called for “returning to the path of dialogue and diplomacy to overcome the current crisis, preserve security, stability, and protect the region and its inhabitants.”
They also expressed support for regional and international mediation efforts to reach a political solution.
The document highlighted the need to address outstanding issues related to Iran’s nuclear program, missiles, drones, and Tehran’s support for allied groups, while also calling for respect for the sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs.
