The Syria Recovery and Reconstruction Trust Fund (START) announced the agreement in a joint statement released by the Syrian Foreign Ministry.
The document stated that the World Bank (WB) will manage the mechanism in coordination with donors, development institutions, and other partners, in line with priorities defined by the Syrian Government.
This initiative seeks to mobilize international resources, coordinate financial aid, and speed up economic recovery, reconstruction projects, and institutional reforms, as well as to stimulate private investment.
The objectives, institutional framework, and operational mechanisms were analyzed during a high-level roundtable in Bangkok, Thailand, in the context of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the WB and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
The statement noted that partners from Arab countries, the European Union (EU), the United States, financial institutions, and development agencies expressed their support and interest in contributing to the initiative.
