In a statement published on social media, the organization rejected accusations promoted by certain sectors in Florida, asserting that these are driven by political interests aimed at discrediting the island’s authorities and maintaining pressure on its people.
The Cubans residing in Nicaragua also denounced a meeting organized by the U.S. mission at the United Nations—an event held outside of official procedures—with the intent of spreading narratives hostile to Cuba.
The statement questioned the participation of panelists who, according to the organization, maintain ties to groups funded by the U.S. State Department, arguing that the discourse on human rights is being used to justify actions against Cuban sovereignty.
The patriotic community further warned that these initiatives are intended to influence the international debate regarding the resolution calling for the lifting of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by Washington on Havana—a resolution set to be considered by the UN General Assembly on October 27 and 28, according to the text.
The “Antonio Maceo” Patriotic Community of Cubans Residing in Nicaragua concluded its statement by calling for an end to the blockade against the island and by advocating for peace, sovereignty, and justice.
