Colombian activists reaffirm support for Cuba, opposed US blockade

Bogota, Oct 22 (Prensa Latina) The Colombian Movement of Solidarity with Cuba (MCSC) has reaffirmed its support for the Caribbean nation in its righteous demand to end the genocidal blockade—a policy through which the United States seeks to subjugate an entire people.

In its statement, the association condemned the moves carried out by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who is using pressure and blackmail to undermine support for a resolution that Cuba will soon present to the United Nations General Assembly, calling for an end to Washington’s siege.

“The economic war against Cuba has reached insane levels, characterized by a cruelty and malice that now amount to genocide,” the Movement declared.

It further noted that this “is compounded by the disastrous consequences of Cuba’s unjustifiable inclusion on the U.S. State Department’s unilateral, arbitrary, and fraudulent list of state sponsors of terrorism, as well as the aggressive financial persecution and the enforcement of laws that codify the blockade.”

The organization also pointed out that every sector of Cuban society is affected by this policy of persecution—a policy driven by power circles in the United States that are orchestrating a media campaign centered on the “failed state” narrative, with the ultimate goal of establishing and justifying the case for direct military action against Cuba.

“We reject the threat of using force to dismantle the Cuban political and economic system. We reject the lies, slanders, and threats directed at the Army General—a defender of Latin America and the Caribbean as a ‘Zone of Peace.’ The peoples of the world stand in defense of Raul Castro,” the organization insisted.
