Ibero-American ministers boost Open Science

Madrid, Oct 22 (Prensa Latina) Ministers and high-level officials responsible for Science, Technology, and Innovation from Ibero-American countries adopted a renewed Open Science Action Plan in Alicante, according to a document released in Spain.

The meeting took place in that southern city during the Ibero-American Summit, to be held in this capital on November 4–5.

The initiative fosters sustainable, inclusive, and cooperative models for producing, communicating, and accessing scientific knowledge.

It also encourages collaboration among these countries to share best practices and narrow access gaps.

The document suggests, among other proposals, creating an Ibero-American space for dialogue and coordination on science diplomacy.

The Ibero-American General Secretariat (SEGIB) reported that the Declaration recognizes science diplomacy as a tool for linking scientific knowledge with foreign policy and strengthening cooperation among the participating nations.
