In a statement, to which Prensa Latina had access to, the CTA-T warned of the critical situation of the nine prisoners, who began their fast on September 23.
The union federation cited warnings from the prisoners’ families over the severe deterioration of detention conditions, restrictions on visits and communication, and the growing danger to the lives of their loved ones after nearly 16 years of imprisonment.
The families denounce dispersing prisoners across different facilities and the suffering inflicted upon them by the Kingdom of Morocco within the Sahrawi territories it has occupied since 1976.
The CTA-T joins the families demanding the immediate release of the Gdeim Izik Sahrawi political prisoners, in line with statements issued by the relevant United Nations bodies.
The situation of the Gdeim Izik political prisoners has persisted since the dismantling of the Sahrawi protest camp in November 2010.
