In a statement released on social media, the organization expressed its confidence that the international community will overwhelmingly support the draft resolution calling for an end to the economic, commercial, and financial blockade—a vote on which is scheduled for October 27 and 28.
The committee described the U.S.-imposed siege as an abuse of power and a form of neocolonial domination, noting that it violates international law and the principles established in the United Nations Charter.
Furthermore, it pointed out that diplomatic and economic pressure from Washington influences the stance of certain countries, and recalled that, although the resolution received majority support, the number of abstentions increased.
The Nicaraguan organization upheld that these sanctions and coercive measures harm the Cuban people, asserting that U.S. policy toward the island demonstrates unequal treatment of nations with less economic and military power.
In this context, it urged the international community to uphold peaceful coexistence, respect for state sovereignty, and international norms.
The Nicaraguan Committee for Solidarity with Socialist Cuba concluded its statement with a message of support for the island: “Cuba is not alone.”
