Nigerian Minister of Health Muhammad Ali Pate stated that the first Ebola patient in the country remains in isolation, and there is no evidence that the disease has spread to the wider community.
According to medical sources, the confirmed patient had spent two weeks on vacation in Kampala before returning to Nigeria; she is currently in stable condition and recovering.
Pate also urged the public to remain calm as health specialists intensify contact tracing efforts.
The minister added that there are currently no changes to daily public life, though he left open the possibility of further measures should the situation evolve.
Investigations have already identified 44 individuals who may have been exposed to the virus, according to the source.
Although this latest Ebola outbreak began in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the dangerous disease is now present in several African countries, having claimed more than 4,500 lives and resulted in over 9,000 confirmed cases.
