Jorge Guzman, coordinator of the National Front for the Defense of Economic and Social Rights (Frenadeso), called for the repeal of this unilateral measure, in line with the repeated statements made by the majority of UN member states.
In a message shared on social media, Guzman expressed solidarity with and support for the struggle of the Cuban people, whose resistance and dignity, he stated, serve as a benchmark for popular movements across the region and the world.
For his part, Arnelio Reyes, of the Kuna Student Association, highlighted Cuba’s example of solidarity and criticized the coercive measures applied against the island—including the energy blockade denounced by Cuban authorities.
“We admire the resistance, the courage, and the historical legacy of the people of Cuba,” said Reyes, who urged social organizations to strengthen their unity in demanding an end to the U.S. blockade.
On October 27 and 28, the United Nations General Assembly will debate a draft resolution, presented by Havana, on the need to end Washington’s economic, commercial, and financial blockade against the island.
This initiative has been put to a vote annually since 1992 and, for decades, has received the support of an overwhelming majority of the multilateral organization’s member states.
