Among those injured are reportedly four uniformed personnel (two men and two women), noted Blu Radio, which also reported that the blast left one vehicle completely destroyed and several homes damaged.
The news outlet cited the Secretary of Citizen Security, Jorge Quintero, who stated that the explosive device was placed behind the headquarters of the National Directorate of Taxes and Customs (DIAN), where police officers park their vehicles while conducting surveillance duties at the international bridge.
Preliminary information suggests that a suitcase may have been left at the scene, though the official emphasized that explosives experts are still investigating the incident.
The attack comes just hours after the murder of the former Secretary of Government for Cucuta, Miguel Castellanos.
The Ombudsman’s Office (Defensoría del Pueblo) has requested that the Attorney General’s Office conduct a prompt and rigorous investigation to clarify the circumstances and motives behind the crime, as well as to identify and prosecute those responsible.
The organization noted that the murder raises serious concerns regarding the security conditions faced by communities in Cucuta and Norte de Santander—a region where the persistence of various forms of violence demands a coordinated and sustained response from the authorities.
