China and 25 countries sign UN convention to facilitate global trade

Beijing, Oct 27 (Prensa Latina) China and 25 other countries signed the United Nations Convention on Negotiable Cargo Documents to facilitate financing cross-border trade, local media reported.

Several media outlets covered the ceremony held in Ghana, to which China’s Vice Commerce Minister Jiang Chenghua attended.

Jiang described the convention’s adoption as a milestone in innovating international trade rules and underscored that this measure reflects China’s commitment to genuine multilateralism and an international system focused on the UN.

Ghana’s Trade Minister Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare confirmed that her country will soon begin the necessary legislative processes.

Anna Joubin-Bret, Secretary of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), highlighted the treaty’s importance, asserting that the convention reduces uncertainty and improves the efficiency of global supply chains.

More than 400 representatives from 60 countries and regions attended the signing ceremony for this agreement, which China boosted and the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) approved in December 2025.
