Indian Prime Minister congratulates Lula on his reelection

New Delhi, Oct 26 (Prensa Latina) Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has joined in congratulating Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on his electoral victory.

“My heartfelt congratulations to my dear friend, President Lula, on his remarkable reelection victory,” the Indian head of government wrote on social media.

Modi also expressed his hopes for greater cooperation between the two nations.

“I look forward to working closely with him to further deepen and expand the multifaceted strategic partnership between India and Brazil,” Modi stated.

He further affirmed that joint efforts would strengthen bilateral cooperation across various sectors, advancing the shared priorities of the Global South and working toward a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable world.

According to the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, relations between India and Brazil are anchored in a Strategic Partnership established in 2006, which has become a key pillar of cooperation within the Global South. In 2025, Modi paid a historic state visit to Brasília, where he was received with full state honors by President Lula—marking the first official visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the South American nation in 57 years.

Meanwhile, in February 2026, the Brazilian leader reciprocated with an official visit to India, during which he participated in the Second Artificial Intelligence Impact Summit and held key meetings to review the bilateral agenda, covering sectors such as defense, space technology, and energy transitions.
