At the start of the United Nations General Assembly sessions—which are debating a resolution from Havana condemning Washington’s genocidal economic blockade and demanding its lifting—the U.S. representative, Mike Waltz, was met with a response from the Cuban side.
Waltz initially denied the existence of this economic war—which has been condemned at the UN for 33 consecutive years—and uttered a series of slanderous falsehoods regarding life on the island.
“In the face of the lies, slanders, and total lack of respect shown by U.S. representative Mike Waltz, the Cuban Foreign Minister once again raised the voice of a people who, with dignity, have resisted more than 60 years of a criminal blockade, an energy siege, and economic strangulation,” the URCA statement highlights.
“We strongly repudiate the arrogant and deceitful attitude of the United States government, which—while speaking of love, freedom, and democracy—imposes hunger, blackouts, and medicine shortages upon the Cuban people,” the Cubans affiliated with the group declare.
“The world knows who is imposing the blockade and who is resisting. The world knows who is lying and who is telling the truth,” the URCA statement emphasizes.
