The Communist Party of Argentina (PCA) praised the vote, which once again condemns, as it has done for years, despite growing pressure from Washington, what it describes as a “criminal blockade.”
A statement from MASCuba, which Prensa Latina has access to, notes that despite diplomatic pressure and dire threats directed at the international community and denounced by the Cuban Foreign Ministry (MINREX), the island has demonstrated at the UN that it poses no threat, whereas the blockade itself does.
MASCuba stated, “We acknowledge the decision of those countries that resisted the illegal pressures exerted by the government of US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and supported the Cuban Revolution’s demand that the United States lift its economic, commercial, and financial blockade, a medieval measure and the longest-lasting one in human history.”
Through this blockade, Washington violates the equality and sovereignty of States, a core principle of the United Nations Charter, which prohibits interference in a country’s internal affairs and guarantees freedom of trade and navigation, which has been systematically disregarded in the case of Cuba.
