In a statement posted on the social media platform Instagram, the student organization highlighted the rejection of this policy—a stance also expressed at the United Nations General Assembly, where the international community once again spoke out against Washington’s unilateral coercive measures.
“Always with Cuba!” declared the UNE at the beginning of its message, noting that the outcome of this Wednesday’s vote reaffirms opposition to a policy that directly impacts the living conditions of millions of Cubans.
The organization pointed out that, despite pressures and what it described as “diplomatic blackmail,” there remains a clear recognition of the injustice represented by the blockade imposed on the Caribbean nation.
This statement is part of a long-standing tradition of solidarity between segments of the Brazilian student movement and Cuba—ties that encompass academic exchanges, political activities, and public declarations in defense of national sovereignty.
The U.S. blockade, which has lasted for more than six decades, is considered the primary obstacle to Cuba’s development, according to country’s authorities.
