The solidarity group highlighted backing from 130 countries that voted for a resolution seeking to end the economic, commercial, and financial siege, which has been in place for more than six decades.
The statement noted, “Once again, the international community has raised its voice against a policy of aggression that seeks to undermine the Cuban people and government’s sovereignty, and has ratified that Cuba is not a threat; the blockade is the threat.”
It also acknowledged the honorable conduct of the Cuban diplomatic mission at the Assembly, led by Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla and the Permanent Representative to the international body, Ernesto Soberon, who exposed the manipulation and falsehoods in the testimony of US representative Michael Waltz.
The Movement categorically condemned the vote cast by President Abelardo de la Espriella’s administration against the resolution.
Despite diplomatic pressure and blackmail from the United States, 130 United Nations member states supported Cuba in this denunciation, brought forward annually since 1992.
