The Bariay National Monument Park hosted the “Two Worlds” performance, which recalled the encounter between European and American roots that took place on October 28, 1492.
The event served as the official launch for the upcoming 2027 edition of the forum—a prelude to a program that extends artistic offerings across various urban and community settings throughout eastern Cuba.
The festival focuses on the development of arts education and encompasses a wide spectrum of aesthetic expressions.
Highlights of the event included the world premiere of the choreography “Shadows” (“Sombras”) by the CODANZA company at the Ibero-American Plaza, as well as showcases of emerging talent from the Raul Gomez Garcia School of Art Instructors.
On the theoretical and academic front, the festival was preceded by the conclusion of the Ibero-American Congress of Thought, during which the Guarch Delmonte Prize was awarded to researcher Nuvia Artigas for her rigorous study on scientific racism.
The program continues with *trova* (folk-singer) gatherings, film screenings, and folkloric displays—all aimed at strengthening the integration of peoples from the Global South through the medium of art and emancipatory thought.
