Nicaragua’s Co-President extols Cuba’s Victory at the UN

Managua, Oct 29 (Prensa Latina) Nicaragua’s Co-President, Rosario Murillo, highlighted Cuba’s victory at the United Nations, where 130 countries supported a resolution calling for an end to the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed on the island by the United States.

“We have shared in the victory of our sister nation, Cuba, which—despite the challenging circumstances our world is facing—has achieved a just vindication,” the leader stated during her daily address via the government’s media outlets.

She underscored the overwhelming support from nations for the demand to end a policy that, she asserted, seeks to break the will of the Cuban people—a population that has been subjected to these coercive measures for more than six decades.

Furthermore, she reaffirmed the bond of brotherhood between Nicaragua and Cuba, while advocating for peace, development, goodwill, and respect for the rights of all peoples.

The Co-President maintained that every nation should have the opportunity to build its own development model, free from external threats or impositions, and to promote cooperative solidarity that contributes to the common well-being.

“A world of justice, a world of peace, a world of well-deserved well-being,” she declared.

The day before, Nicaragua’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Jaime Hermida, expressed his government’s support for the Caribbean nation and demanded an end to the U.S.-led siege—a situation that has intensified in recent months with a blockade on fuel supplies.

The diplomat affirmed that his country’s position is rooted in the principles of justice, sovereignty, and respect for human rights, and he voiced his opposition to both the continuation and the escalation of coercive measures against Cuba.
