“This is a victory for the self-sacrificing and heroic Cuban people at the United Nations (UN),” the diplomatic representative declared to Prensa Latina.
There highlighting the fact that 130 countries supported the Latin American nation within this global body, Perez Montoya noted the backing the island received from numerous speakers, who condemned the unjust economic, commercial, and financial siege. She specifically pointed to the address given by Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla.
She noted that the Foreign Minister, using solid and compelling arguments, dismantled the false narrative presented by representatives of the United States government and its allies, while exposing the consequences of the blockade—which was intensified under the administration of President Donald Trump.
After criticizing Washington’s interference in the internal affairs of sovereign nations like Cuba, Perez Montoya stated that, through its actions at the UN, the U.S. demonstrates a political agenda aimed at seizing control of Cuba—a country that pays a high price for defending its sovereignty, independence, and self-determination.
Furthermore, she refuted the claim that the island poses a threat to the United States, asserting—as Cuban authorities have long maintained—that the blockade, which “seeks to suffocate us,” serves as a clear obstacle to the development of the homeland of Jose Marti and Fidel Castro.
Elsewhere in his remarks, he noted that if Cuba were not subject to this imposed blockade, the results would surely multiply—not only in biotechnology and medicine, but across all sectors—through the efforts of the people and under the leadership of the Party and the Government, which continue to seek solutions to problems despite the difficulties.
