Russia rules out EU participation in trilateral talks on Ukraine

Moscow, Oct 29 (Prensa Latina) Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov ruled out any participation by the European Union (EU) in trilateral talks regarding Ukraine.

The spokesperson stated to the press on Thursday that the trilateral negotiations aimed at resolving the Ukrainian conflict do not include the participation of EU representatives, due to the bloc’s provocative stance.

Brussels is determined to further intensify hostilities, making it highly unlikely that either Moscow or Washington would require additional participants in that dialogue, he noted.

“Furthermore, we have seen no evidence that the EU is adopting a peace-oriented approach; on the contrary, the bloc continues to maintain a provocative stance aimed at fueling and prolonging the war. We have no need for participants of that kind,” Peskov declared.

Last Sunday, the Russian presidential spokesperson had indicated Moscow’s willingness to support a negotiator from the European Union, provided they were genuinely interested in peace.

On Saturday, media outlets reported on Brussels’ desire to become involved in resolving the Ukrainian conflict—though, previously, European Council President António Costa had stated that the EU does not intend to interfere with peace initiatives led by the United States.
