The closing ceremony will take place at La Plaza Vieja in the city’s historic center and include demonstrations of martial arts disciplines such as Aikido, Kendo, Judo, and Karate, accompanied by the thunderous sound of Japanese drums (taiko) and the elegance of traditional dance.
Attendees can also look forward to performances by an “idol” (musical artist), the highly anticipated awarding ceremony for the 4-koma (four-panel comic strip) contest, and a cosplay competition (featuring costumes and accessories inspired by anime, film, and literature).
Those interested in the cosplay contest may register on the day of the event at the Vitrina de Valonia cultural center.
Sponsored by Japan’s Embassy in Cuba, the event began on October 24 at the Casa Vitier Garcia-Marruz cultural center, where Japanese culture lovers participated in workshops covering Japanese theater, Rakugo, Origami, Shiiori ningyo (paper dolls), Kamishibai (illustrated storytelling), and traditional dance.
