At the gathering, experts from Villa Clara province analyzed the enduring relevance of Fidel’s legacy and emphasized on the need of putting his teachings into practice amidst the difficult conditions currently facing the country—conditions marked by the intensification of the United States’ economic blockade on the island.
During the workshop, Professor Ginley Duran Castellon, a PhD. and Director of University Heritage, traced Fidel’s presence at the “Marta Abreu” Central University of Las Villas.
Additionally, Alexis Manuel Garcia Artiles, First Vice President of the Villa Clara Provincial Committee of the Union of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC), presented the book *Con Fidel la Villa fue mas clara* (“With Fidel, the City Was Clearer”), authored by journalist and writer Jose Antonio Fulgueiras, a recipient of the Jose Marti National Journalism Award.
VThe book explores Fidel’s presence in the province through more than 40 chronicles.
The event—held on the eve of Cuban Archivist Day, which falls on November 3—also addressed the preservation of musical heritage in central Cuba. This work has earned national recognition, according to information presented by musicologist Angelica Maria Solernou Martinez, director of the early music ensemble *Ars Nova* in Santa Clara.
