The results of the ECLAC Summit recently held in Mexico, the electionsin Argentina, theJoe Biden government’s ungovernability with regards to Cuba and the gradual normalization of education on the island add to other topics of economic, cultural and sport interest.
Also included are the panorama in Haiti, a country devastated by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake shortly after the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse, the fresh outbreak of the pandemic in the United States, with epicenter in Florida, the international solidarity with Cuba in the difficult times of COVID-19 and economic restrictions, as well as the Caribbean country's achievements at the recently closed Olympic Games.
Other topics presented in this THR issue include the success of the Abdala and Soberana 02 vaccine candidates in the fight against COVID-19; the work of the Cuban doctors against the pandemic in South Africa; efforts to boost the national economy; the celebration of the National Rebelliousness Day (July 26), held without public attendance because of the epidemiological conditions in the country; the participation of the Cuban athletes in the Tokyo Olympic Games, as well as others related to culture; the Peruvian elections, and the celebration of the XIX ALBA-TCP Summit held in Caracas.
The recent caravan held in several countries calling for the end of the U.S. blockade against Cuba, under the slogan Bridges of Love, was also headlined in this number, together with the Cuba policy to be adopted by the new U.S. government, Cuban athletes’ hopes to shine at the upcoming OlympicGames, as well as cultural topics, among others.
