Plastic waste has more than doubled since 2000

Washington, Feb 24 (Prensa Latina) A report entitled Global Plastics Outlook on Thursday revealed that the amount of plastic waste has more than doubled globally since 2000 and nearly a quarter is dumped in uncontrolled sites, burned in open pits or leaks into the environment.

United Nations, Oct 21 (Prensa Latina) Plastic pollution in oceans and other bodies of water continues to grow sharply and could more than double by 2030, bringing about dire consequences for health, economy, biodiversity and the climate, according to an assessment released on Thursday by the UN Environment Program (UNEP).
