Title 42

Washington, May 12 (Prensa Latina) Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas on Friday reiterated that the U.S.-Mexican border is not open while tens of thousands of people are trying to cross from Mexico.
Washington, May 11 (Prensa Latina) Rep. Nanette Barragán (D-Calif.), chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, on Thursday echoed her democratic colleagues´ criticism of the GOP bill by casting it as a product of extreme Republicans´ cruel, unworkable immigration policy. “This bill is an adoption of the failed Trump-era policies that call for the criminalization of the right to seek asylum,” Barragán said during a press conference.
Washington, May 10 (Prensa Latina) President Biden is sending 1,500 active-duty troops to the southern border, while cities across the country are declaring states of emergency and asking for federal support as the country prepares for a surge of migration expected to accompany the lifting of Title 42 border restrictions next week.
Washington, Nov 23 (Prensa Latina) Title 42, which allows migrants to be expelled from the United States without giving them asylum opportunities, has aroused controversy among those who defend it so as to control the border and those convinced that Title 42 unfairly harms people fleeing persecution.
