In a letter addressed to international organizations, the minister maintained that the scale and purpose of the destruction inflicted on the civilian population in Gaza, especially children and women, exceeded the threshold of a humanitarian crisis.
The official described the collapse of the public health system in Gaza as the deliberate destruction of the essence of human life.
Zafarghandi urged the international community to respond immediately and effectively to the collective punishment, ethnic cleansing, and genocide taking place in the besieged Palestinian territory.
Lamenting the extremely difficult and painful conditions faced by the population in Gaza, he noted that many babies die in their mothers’ arms due to severe malnutrition and dehydration.
The minister condemned the atrocities committed by Israel and called for a series of immediate actions by the international community, including the establishment of field hospitals and nutrition crisis response teams, and the facilitation of UN humanitarian flights to transport special baby food.
He also called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to immediately adopt resolutions aimed at lifting the siege of Gaza and allocating emergency financial and logistical resources for life-saving interventions.
