Zimbabwe launches solidarity campaign with Cuba

Harare, Sept 1 (Prensa Latina) Zimbabwean friends of Cuba and graduates on the island announced the launch of the Solidarity Campaign with the Caribbean country in the presence of Ambassador Susellys Perez Mesa.

The Foreign Ministry’s audio-visual dedicated to the Centennial Year of the Historic Leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, began the evening with moving remarks from the Head of Mission, referring to bilateral relations, the closeness between the two peoples, and Havana’s support for the liberation of Africa and, in particular, Zimbabwe.

The Campaign, led by the Zimbabwe-Cuba Friendship Association (ZICUFA), brings together graduates from the Caribbean country and representatives of other sectors of society.

Attendees heard a special message for the occasion from Fernando Gonzalez, Hero of the Republic and President of the Cuban Friendship Institute, as part of ICAP’s 65th Anniversary.

The Secretary General of ZICUFA, Ernest Nyatanga, advanced actions as part of the movement to help Cuba amid the complex situation exacerbated by the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States.

Likewise, the coordinator of “A Cuba Hay Que Quererla,” Amado Riol, addressed the supporters with a brief overview of the work carried out by this project with the support of friends from around the world, who have participated in similar campaigns, especially with donations of medicines.

Participants remembered the figure of leader Fidel Castro and the decisive role of the Caribbean nation in the African liberation struggle, the training of more than three thousand professionals from this African country, and the deployment of medical and educational brigades to Zimbabwe since the 1980s.
