Mexico to broadcast documentaries on Chilean coup d’etat

Mexico City, Sep 11 (Prensa Latina) The Nuestro Cine Mx public channel, dedicated to promoting the seventh art in Mexico and Latin America, will broadcast as of Thursday a film series for the 52nd anniversary of the coup d'etat in Chile.

The film series will begin in the afternoon with the title “Contra la Razon y Por la Fuerza,” by Carlos Ortiz, a filmed account taken in the days following the uprising against the government of President Salvador Allende, which includes testimonies and evidence of the initial repression.

The Culture Ministry stated that “Universidad Compromiso,” a documentary that captures Allende’s speech at the University of Guadalajara before the institutional collapse, will be screened an hour later.

“Himno,” by Martin Farias, which explores the international impact of the song “El Pueblo Unido Nunca Sera Vencido,” by Chilean band Quilapayun, as a symbol of resistance, will be shown later.

Thursday’s program will conclude with Francisco Fasano’s “Miguel Littin, Clandestino en Chile. La Historia Completa,” a reconstruction of the filmmaker’s operation to film in Chile during the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet.

Roberto Riveros’ “Las Dawsonianas,” a story about the search undertaken by the wives of Allende’s closest collaborators after the military coup on September 11, 1973, will be screened on Friday.

The program will conclude with the broadcast of “Los Montajes de la Dictadura,” by Abner Machuca.
