Palestine resounds in Emmy Awards gala

Washington, Sep 15 (Pensa Latina) The message for Palestine was resounding at the recent Emmy Awards gala in Los Angeles, when actress Hannah Einbinder spoke out against the situation in Gaza while accepting her award.

“Fuck ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). Free Palestine,” said Einbinder, winner of the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, as she took the stage last night at a packed Peacock Theater filled with celebrities.

In statements before the ceremony, the Jewish actress said she was “horrified by Israel’s massacre in Gaza.”

“I am ashamed and angry that this mass murder is funded by our tax dollars as Americans,” she emphasized, insisting while accepting another award that “it shouldn’t be controversial to say that we should take a stand against the murder of civilians.”

Einbinder is also among the 3,900 film industry figures who signed a letter demanding an end to working with Israeli institutions and companies that are “involved in genocide and apartheid against the Palestinian people.”

At the 77th Emmy Awards, the Palestinian kufiya was also worn throughout the red carpet. Spanish actor Javier Bardem, nominated for Best Supporting Actor for the anthology film “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story,” wore this meaningful scarf, which he used to denounce what he himself described as “Israel’s genocide in Gaza.”

The day before, “Adolescence,” with six awards, including Best Miniseries, became the big winner of the Emmy night. “The Studio” won four (including Best Comedy), and “The Pitt” won three statuettes, snatching the award for Best Drama from “Severance.”

Apple TV+’s ‘Severance’ was the most nominated series this year, garnering 28 nods in different categories.
