Through social media, the president praised the dedication and courage of those who, “with their admirable skill and undeniable heroism,” contributed to the rescue of thousands of people after the severe flooding caused by Hurricane Melissa.

Since the storm hit, specialized forces from both ministries have been carrying out rescue operations, relocating residents to safe areas, and providing logistical support to isolated communities, in close coordination with Civil Defense and local governments.

Hurricane Melissa caused significant damage in several eastern provinces, including damage to homes, roads, and basic services.
