Prensa Latina observed this during a tour of the Salvadoran capital, where the final touches are being put on the new facilities of Rosales National Hospital, where a large number of workers are busy completing the construction.
The new buildings will allow specialist consultations to be extended into the evening, and the hospital will be incorporated into the National Hospital Network, a government initiative aimed at improving healthcare for Salvadorans.
The government, according to reports cited by the newspaper El Mundo, is also preparing to launch a Telemedicine program with the goal of benefiting more than four million Salvadorans, nearly 60 percent of the population.
Last week, the Legislative Assembly received a request to approve $11 million for Hospital El Salvador, part of a $77 million loan from the Andean Development Corporation (CAF) earmarked for the telemedicine project.
These funds will be used to hire doctors, administrative staff, telemedicine operators and developers, cloud storage and expand network connectivity, and provide consulting services on clinical and logistical protocols “for the large-scale operation of the program.”
