Indonesia boosts TB prevention programme

Jakarta, Nov 12 (Prensa Latina) Indonesia today launched a national free medical check-up programme to expand tuberculosis screening and promote prevention across the country.

Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin noted that the initiative, in the process of preliminary tuberculosis testing alone, reached 20 million citizens.

“The goal is to ensure that the 84 million children who will reach productive age in 2045 grow up healthy and strong. We have two decades to achieve a golden generation,” the headline said.

The programme is part of the health transformation agenda that the Government launched four years ago, focusing on quick impact actions and structural pillars to expand the coverage and quality of the health system.

According to Sadikin, more than 8,000 primary care centres already offer integrated services, while the rate of delay in children fell below 20 per cent for the first time.

“We are transforming the culture of work in health to ensure a healthier and more resilient Indonesia towards 2045,” concluded Sadikin.
